6 – 10 September 2009 - 7th Congress of the Toxicology in Developing Countries will be held at Sun City adjacent to Pilansberg Game Reserve National Park, South Africa. The Congress venue will also give delegates the opportunity to experience firsthand the wild beauty of the African Continent. The theme of the Congress is "Harmonization of toxicology issues between developed and developing countries". Many toxicological problems still bedevil developing countries. Environmental pollution due to industrial and agricultural activities and the subsequent contamination of air, water, biota and food have been demonstrated. In addition, the use of herbal remedies is wide spread in developing countries. This Congress provides an opportunity to create a platform to present the latest scientific progress in different multidisciplinary aspects of toxicology. It is hoped that this congress will bring closer and harmonise toxicology in developed and developing countries particularly in the areas of toxicity testing, risk assessment as well as in regulatory requirements as accepted in developed countries and thus help reduce the burden of toxic substances in developing countries. The scientific programmes of the Congress will comprise of plenary presentations, parallel sessions as well as symposia and workshops, roundtable discussions, and platform and poster presentations addressing these pressing toxicology issues in developing countries. Expert toxicologists from multidisciplinary backgrounds from all over the world will be invited to present their latest scientific innovations. Opportunities will also be created for new, upcoming graduate toxicologists to present their work.
