The well being of humans, animals, and the quality of the environment are major concerns of any civilized society. They are fully shared by all of AfricaBio's members. AfricaBio and its members support a scientific based assessment of biotechnology and its products.

Ethical behavior

AfricaBio's Ethical Code is a pledge of the safe and responsible use of biotechnology and its products. We believe that the rapid and steady development of science and technology calls for the identification and clarification of the ethical issues.

Africa can reap the benefits

The majority of African scientists, government and stakeholders believe biotechnology has an important role to play in addressing the needs of Africa.

Africa has the basis of the scientific, technological and entrepreneurial skills in biotechnology. If equity can be attracted, public acceptance improved and efficient regulatory frameworks introduced, to provide a stable and transparent environment, then the future for African biotechnology will be bright.
